Les Grandes Dames celebrates 19th year at BallenIsles

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL.  JAN. 23, 2013 The 19th annual Les Grandes Dames International Senior Women’s Tennis Tournament presented by Tail Activewear, celebrated 5 days of action-packed matches at BallenIsles Country Club’s state-of-the-art Sports Complex.

“This tournament that has come to exemplify a legacy for the sport of tennis and we were pleased to see more than 150 players from around the country and abroad including Canada, and  Denmark as well as 16 BallenIsles members compete in this year’s event,” said BallenIsles GM Derrick Barnett.

The tournament which brought together some of the country's best senior women tennis players in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s Divisions, saw a few upsets in both singles and doubles.

#1 seed Katerina Stanford lost in the 30s final to #2 seed Evgenia Dockter who also took the 30 doubles title along with Angela Simon from Atlanta. The 40s division saw some great tennis but it was a sweep for Angela Simon over Trish Riddell of Maitland, Fl.

BallenIsles Director of Golf Awarded "Troon Golf Professional of the Year"

Palm Beach Gardens, Fl. Feb 6, 2012 –Troon Golf, the world's largest golf management company, has awarded BallenIsles Country Club’s Director of Golf, Brian Kelley, “Troon Golf Professional of the Year 2011” from among an elite, company-wide field of 425 golf professionals.

The prestigious Troon award represents a new category and was announced during the 2012 Troon Leadership Conference in Scottsdale, Arizona from January 17-19.

Les Grandes Dames International Senior Women’s Tennis Tournament Wraps Up at BallenIsles to great weather and thrilling matches

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL. Mon JAN. 23, 2012 – It was another beautiful day of weather and tennis at BallenIsles Country Club at the weekend, for the exciting finals of Les Grandes Dames, presented by Joanne Green, D.D.S and Dermatology Associates.

On Sunday, January 22, unfortunately for Sue Webb who was having a great tournament, reaching the 50s finals in singles and doubles, a strained stomach muscle forced her to default to her doubles partner Sue Bartlett in the singles final. Then as a team, the two players had to default the doubles final against Marianne Caplan and Kathy Vick since the injury did not allow Webb to play at all. Bartlett the #3 seed in the women’s 50 singles had downed Kathy Vick, the #1 seed in straight sets to reach the final against her doubles partner.
